Hello and welcome to A Temple Wild, where we rediscover the myths of the ancient Greeks through the plants and landscapes that shaped them.

This is the introduction for season two, and for our loyal listeners, thank you so much for tuning in again. It’s been a hot minute since I recorded an episode. And by hot minute, I mean almost two years. So as you can imagine, a lot has happened in that time. I took a sabbatical from recording to do some traveling abroad, but I am now back in Greece and so excited to be diving back into the mythic landscapes with you.

So if this is your first time tuning in to the show, welcome — my name is Mira; some of you may know me as Ekstasy, and I’m a Greek-American herbalist and artist based here in Greece and I craft offerings — including this show, essays, fiction, poetry, dances, and so much more — all inspired by the Mediterranean landscape of my Greek ancestors.

So I had really big plans to create a video version of the show for the second season, but life threw me a curve ball very recently and I find myself not wanting to be in front of a camera right now. So. For those of you who were really excited to watch my face, in addition to hearing my voice, you will have to wait just a little bit longer. I’m really sorry.

However, I will say that in this season, in addition to exploring the ancient myths, plants, and landscapes of the Greeks, I’m also going to be having a few guests on the show, some fellow Greek herbalists and artists who will share with us their own stories of connecting with the land of their ancestors. So I’m really, really excited about that. I hope you’ll tune in for those. I’m also open to learning about new creators, so if you want to suggest anyone that you think might be a good fit for the show, feel free to send me an email at hello@atemplewild.com.

I’ll be posting a new episode of the show at least once a month, but in between each episode there’s lots happening on my website at atemplewild.com, so I hope you’ll go poke around the many offerings I have over there — including a growing collection of Greek plant lore, free guides for connecting and deepening your communion with the Nymphs, photography and essays from my travels around Greece, music playlists for movement and meditation inspiration, and so much more, so definitely swing by atemplewild.com.

Other than YouTube, I am not on social media, so the best way to follow along with my work is to subscribe to my free Full Moon newsletter, where you’ll receive monthly updates about new episodes and my other offerings. You can sign up for free at atemplewild.com/subscribe.

And speaking of subscribing, I want to give a special thank you to my monthly patrons — who make this new season even possible with their financial support.

If you, too, would like to support the show, I’d love to have you join — even just $3 a month makes a difference in keeping my work live on the web. And as a monthly patron, you’ll also gain access to Alsos, which is a brand new, members-only area of my website where I post offerings that I don’t share anywhere else, including private posts, bonus content, and behind-the-scenes stories. You’ll also receive my patron-only newsletter, be the first to know about upcoming projects, and receive a monthly 10%-off coupon code for the shop — which will have some new merch later this season — so check it out at atemplewild.com/patron.

If you’re not ready to become a monthly patron, but you’d still like to make a contribution, you can leave a one-time tip in my virtual tip jar, purchase something from my shop, or share my work with your community.

So, I think that’s all the housekeeping announcements I have for this new season. I’m really excited to journey into the mythic landscapes with you again. We’ll be starting off the new season with an episode about one of my favorite deities of the ancient Greek world — the twice-born god of revelry, the vine, and sacred madness: Dionysos.

I hope you’ll join me.
